Gate.io Referral Code

Sign up to Gate's European platform through a referral link and you can collect up to $45 in trading fee rebate vouchers, released in four steps as you deposit and trade within 14 days. They are vouchers against your trading fees, not cash you can withdraw.

If you sign up through this page, this site may receive the referrer's side of the reward. This never costs you anything extra.

Requirements to qualify

  • You sign up via the referral link, complete KYC and trade.
  • Not available to residents of UK, DE, FR, NL, BE, AT, TR or KR.

What you get, and what it takes

Gate EU's Token Crew program pays the new account in four separate pieces, each tied to a task you have to finish within 14 days of signing up. Checked on the program page on 28 August 2026, the tasks and the amounts credited to you are these, and they only count spot trading. Other trade types are explicitly excluded.

The important part is what the vouchers are. They are trading fee rebate vouchers, so they reduce what you pay Gate rather than adding a balance you can send to your bank. Gate EU charges 0.1% on spot trades at the entry tier, which means $45 of rebate is the fee on roughly $45,000 of trading. If you plan to buy once and hold, most of that headline value is unreachable, and the program page does not publish an expiry date for the vouchers, so check the credit notice in your account for one before counting on it.

Two rules narrow this further. A referral relationship is only created when you sign up through the link itself, and rewards from this program cannot be combined with rewards from any other Gate referral event. You get one route in, and it is the one you pick at registration.

  • Deposit 100 USDC or more and keep it in place for at least 24 hours: $5 to you.
  • Trade at least 1 USDC: a further $5.
  • Reach 5,000 USDC of spot volume: a further $15.
  • Reach 10,000 USDC of spot volume: a further $20.
  • Rewards are credited within 24 hours of the system approving each completed task.

Which Gate you actually get an account with

Gate Group was founded in 2013 and its flagship platform is now Gate.com, a domain the company adopted on 19 May 2025 in place of the older Gate.io address it had traded under for years. Gate's own October 2025 announcement puts the platform at over 39 million users and claims a top three ranking by market share, which is the company's own measure rather than an independent one.

If you live in the European Economic Area, that global platform is closed to you as a new customer. Gate announced on 12 March 2025 that from 15 March 2025 it would cease onboarding any new EU or EEA based users, routing them instead to its Maltese arm. That arm is Gate Technology Ltd, incorporated in Malta with registration number C89337, and it is the entity you contract with.

Gate Technology Ltd is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority as a Class 3 Crypto-Asset Service Provider under Malta's Markets in Crypto-Assets Act, authorisation ID GTEC-25238, and separately as a Financial Institution under the Financial Institutions Act, authorisation ID GTEC-25926, for payment services involving electronic money tokens. Both IDs are published on Gate's own EU licences page and both are checkable on the MFSA register rather than something you have to take on trust.

Read what that authorisation covers, because it is narrower than the brand suggests. It licenses custody and administration of crypto-assets, operating a trading platform, exchanging crypto for funds, exchanging crypto for other crypto, executing orders, and transfer services. Derivatives are not on the list, and they are not on the EU site either: the European platform has no futures section at all, while the global one advertises futures, margin, CFDs and tokenised stocks. Gate stated in a notice dated 30 June 2026 that this Maltese authorisation has been passported into 29 EEA member states, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain among them, and that it is progressively migrating existing EEA users onto the Maltese platform.

What it costs to use

Checked on Gate EU's own fee page on 28 August 2026, a new European account sits at VIP 0 and pays 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker on spot trades. That is a flat rate with no penalty on the taker side, which is better than several licensed European venues charge beginners. The first discount is barely worth chasing: VIP 1 drops you to 0.099% and requires either €60,000 of spot volume in 30 days or €2,000 of assets on the platform. The global platform charges the same 0.1% at its entry tier, 0.09% if you switch on GT token fee deduction, 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker on futures, and 0.8% on Alpha, its early-stage token market, which is eight times the ordinary spot rate.

The card route is where the real cost hides. Buying crypto with a debit or credit card on Gate EU goes through Gate Connect, a third-party payment layer, and the price you are quoted already contains the margin rather than showing you a fee line. On 28 August 2026 the card page quoted 1 USDC at €0.8662 while Gate EU's own USDC/EUR order book was trading at €0.8596 at the same moment. That gap is about 0.8%, roughly eight times the spot trading fee, on the single step a first-time buyer is most likely to take. Fund the account by transfer and buy on the order book instead, and the difference on a €1,000 purchase is around €7.

Deposits themselves are free. Gate lists a deposit fee of 0 across every asset on both platforms. Withdrawal costs are per coin and per network rather than a flat percentage, and they differ between the two platforms: Gate EU showed a Bitcoin withdrawal fee of 0 BTC and an Ethereum fee of 0.0004 ETH on 28 August 2026, while the global platform showed 0.00003 BTC and 1.04 USDT on the Ethereum network for Tether. These figures move, and Gate displays the exact amount on the confirmation screen, so read the number in front of you rather than any figure quoted elsewhere.

Gate's Convert tool does not publish a percentage at all. Like the card route, its cost sits inside the quoted rate. Before you accept a conversion, open the matching spot pair in another tab and compare the two prices. If the quote is more than a few tenths of a percent away from the book, the order book is the cheaper trade.

How the referral works and how to claim it

This is a link-based program with nothing to type in afterwards. The single most important step is checking which platform you have landed on before you create the account, because Gate runs two of them and they do not talk to each other.

  • Get a current Gate referral link from an existing user.
  • Open it and check the address bar. If you are in the EEA the URL should carry the /en-eu path, which is the Maltese platform.
  • Complete registration and identity verification through that link, not by navigating to Gate separately afterwards.
  • Deposit at least 100 USDC and leave it untouched for 24 hours to trigger the first voucher.
  • Work through the three spot volume thresholds inside the 14 day window if you want the rest. The friend whose link you used earns a separate share of up to 40% of the fees you generate.

Pros, cons, and who this actually suits

What Gate genuinely does well: it lists an enormous range of assets, well past what any licensed European competitor carries, and it now backs that with a Maltese authorisation whose reference numbers you can look up yourself. The spot fee is a clean 0.1% either side with no taker penalty, deposits cost nothing, and Bitcoin withdrawals on the European platform were free when checked. For someone who wants access to smaller tokens inside a regulated EU perimeter, that combination is genuinely hard to find.

What is wrong with it: the sign-up reward is fee credit rather than money, and most of it only unlocks at $10,000 of spot volume, which is a lot of trading for a new account chasing the headline figure. The European platform carries no futures, no margin and no CFDs, so if a search for a Gate code was really a search for its derivatives products, this account will not provide them. The VIP ladder is effectively decorative for retail. And the card button, which is the obvious way in for a beginner, cost about 0.8% more than the order book on the day it was checked.

Sign up if you are an EEA resident who wants a wide altcoin selection from a licensed venue, and you intend to fund by transfer and trade on the order book. Look elsewhere if you want regulated leveraged trading inside the EU, in which case you need a venue that holds a MiFID II authorisation alongside its MiCA one and you can filter for that on the ESMA register. Look elsewhere too if you only want to buy Bitcoin once a month and never touch a chart, because a fee rebate you cannot spend is worth nothing and a simpler euro exchange will cost you less on the way in.

The link decides which Gate you land on, and the two do not connect

Gate's Super Commission rules state it plainly: cross-site invitations are not supported, and if the person following a link switches to another site because of their region, the referral relationship is not established. Since 15 March 2025 an EEA visitor following a global Gate.com link is exactly that case. They get moved to the Maltese platform by regional routing, and the reward attached to the link they clicked quietly fails to attach. Most pages advertising a Gate code still point at the global address.

The country list makes this stranger. Gate's global referral program is not available to residents of Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Austria or South Korea. Five of those are EEA states that Gate's own June 2026 notice lists among the 29 its Maltese licence has been passported into. The licence reaches Germany and France; the global offer does not. A German reader is a customer Gate can lawfully serve and simultaneously one its main global promotion excludes, which is why the European Token Crew program, and not the global one, is the offer that actually applies to them.

There is a second trap in the global voucher event worth knowing if you are outside the EEA. Its rules define valid deposits as on-chain deposits, fiat deposits, P2P trades and crypto bought with a bank card or third-party payment, and then explicitly exclude debit and credit card deposits, Google Pay, Apple Pay, SEPA, PIX, bank transfer, GateCode transfers and Gift Coins. Several of those excluded methods are the default way a new user funds an account. Deposit by SEPA, complete every other task, and the deposit task simply does not register.

The practical check takes five seconds. Before you create the account, look at the URL. If you are in Europe and it does not contain /en-eu, you are on the wrong platform for both the licence and the reward.

Gate.io referral code FAQ

What do I actually get for signing up with a Gate referral link?

On the European platform, up to $45 in trading fee rebate vouchers, released across four tasks: a 100 USDC deposit held for 24 hours, then spot volume thresholds of 1, 5,000 and 10,000 USDC, all inside 14 days of registering.

Can I withdraw the reward as cash?

No. The reward is issued as trading fee rebate vouchers, which reduce what you pay Gate on spot trades rather than crediting a withdrawable balance. If you do not trade enough to use them, they have no value to you.

Is Gate regulated in Europe?

Its European entity is. Gate Technology Ltd, Malta company number C89337, holds a Class 3 Crypto-Asset Service Provider authorisation from the Malta Financial Services Authority under authorisation ID GTEC-25238, plus a separate financial institution authorisation, GTEC-25926, for payment services involving e-money tokens.

Can I trade futures on Gate if I live in the EU?

No. The Maltese authorisation covers custody, running a trading platform, exchange, order execution and transfers, and does not extend to derivatives. Gate's European site has no futures section, while the global platform it replaced for EEA users does.

What does it actually cost to buy crypto on Gate?

A new European account pays 0.1% maker and taker on spot, checked on Gate EU's fee page on 28 August 2026. Buying with a card is far more expensive: the card quote for USDC that day was €0.8662 against an order book price of €0.8596, a gap of roughly 0.8% built into the price rather than charged as a fee.

Why is the referral program not available in Germany, France or the UK?

Gate's global program excludes residents of Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Austria and South Korea by its own published rules. EEA residents in those countries are served by the separate Maltese platform, which runs its own referral program instead.

Can I add a referral code after I have already opened the account?

No. Gate states the referral relationship is established only when you sign up through the link, and that each user can sign up through one referral method only. There is no described way to attach one retroactively.
